Apartment Colonna is located on the top floor of an historic building in a quiet cobblestone street in the hearth of Rome, between Pantheon and Fontana di Trevi. It is distributed on two levels and has a nice terrace with an amazing view over the Pantheon and the roofs of Rome.
When entering the apartment you will be in the main room which is a bright living space with a comfortable futon sofa-bed that can accommodate two people, tables and chairs and television.
From the main room a large window-door leads outside to the terrace. This is a very unique place to enjoy the beauty of Rome, a quiet and bright place with two small tables where our guests can sit and enjoy breakfast among the Roman roofs. The Pantheon, with its own special dome is just in front of you as many famous churches and historical places of Rome.
From the main living room you can have direct access to the fully equipped kitchen, which is very practical and well organized with two gas burners, an electric oven, a small fridge, glasses and all you need to cook and enjoy an Italian meal.
From the main living room you can also reach the modern bathroom which fetures a bathtub with shower.
The sleeping area is on the upper level, the access is through the staircase in the middle of the linving room. The bedroom has a futon double bed.
Please note that the upper level height is just 1,7 meter (5,6 foot) and the staircase is pretty steep. This apartment indeed is not recommended to elder people and to people with any mobility difficulties.
This apartment was located in the midst of many of the most noteworthy sites in the historic center of the City - two blocks from the Pantheon, three in the other direction from the Trevi Fountain. Just about everything we wanted to see was withing a 45 minute walk. It was also ab block from the Prime Minister's office and residence and another block from Parliament. The apartment was clean, the kitchen equipped with enough to prepare and serve small meals, the bathroom comfortable with a good shower. The little terrace was a great spot to sit with morning coffee or evening wine and look out on the roofs of the town. The bed was a futon on a raised platform reached by a stair ladder. The hostess, Julia, speaks good English and was helpful when we needed anything. Giolitti, the most famous ice cream maker in Rome is also just a couple of blocks away as is Sant' Eustachio, one the premier cafes.
thanks George for the many feedback, this are very valuable tips for our future guests as well! thanks Giovanni
The apartment is in a fantastic location, you can walk anywhere and everywhere...Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Narvona, Campo de fiori. Its bright airy and clean, and has a beautiful terrace overlooking the rooftops of Rome...there is another world up there!! The owner is very organised and has thought of everything. Its wonderful sitting there during the day looking at the dome of the Pantheon! We had been travelling for 5 weeks and had several more to go, so this was absolutely perfect...great kitchen...in fact even used the washing machine, plenty of room, and the owner left us a map of some great spots to pick up some groceries, bread, wines, where to have a great apperitivo, coffee and dinners. Plus there is WiFi.!
thanks for your kind review Karin! best Giovanni
Very nice appartment at a great location i Rome. Right at Piazza Colonna, 5 min. walk to Trevi di Fontana, 3 min. walk to Pantheon, 10 min walk to the spanish steps, 30 min. walk to Colosseum etc. When you step out side the appartment your are in the heart of Rome with lots of restaurants, shops and people. The apartment is great for at young couple. Even though there are two small bedrooms on the loft, they are open to the living room and not closed off, so you don't have a completely private room if you are more people traveling together. The owners lived right next door, and were very nice and helpfull. However they kept to themselves and did not interupt or disturb our stay.
Key to Italy were a great company to travel with and arranged everything quickly and always replied to calls and emails promptly. The Villa is in a fantastic location 5 minutes from Trevi and the Pantheon and we walked to the Vatican and Colloseum from it in no more than 25 minutes getting to see so much more than if we had been in a cab. All the main sights are a must but try to fit in a picnic in Villa Bourgese, i think that is the correct spelling.
From the car pickup service at the airport to the buzz the door "I'm on my way down" every thing was a breeze. The beds are more like a daybed and futon but they worked out well...providing a restful sleep. The terrace provided a nice view of the skyline and yet provided that amount of seclusion needed after a long day. The kitchen plumbing has its issues but you learn to be patient. Overall great location lots of shops and restaurants withing less than 5ft from the building.
Ciao Luis! We are happy to see you've enjoyed your vacation! Greetings from the hosts (Julia and Mattia) as well. all the best. Bruno
My husband and I stayed in this apartment for the New Year. The agency recommend us this apartment, which turn out to be just what we needed! The location is amazing, as well as the balcony! The whole service, beginning with booking and ending with check in, was very well provided! We had an amazing time during our stay in this apartment!
A wonderful apartment in a perfect location to enjoy Rome. Apartment beautifully furnished with a splendid balcony off the living room. The lovely terrace was a lovely spot for a glass of wine among the Roman roofs. Simply love it. When we return to Rome , we will definitly be trying to arrange accomodations at this location. Thanks Bruno
The apartment is in a fantastic location, bang in the middle of Rome- within easy walking distance of trevi fountain, pantheon, popolo square, villa borghese, the vatican, spanish steps, etc. The accommodation is superb- furnished and equipped to a very high standard indeed. The balcony views over the rooftops are great. fantastic holiday much enhanced by living in this beautiful apartment.
We spent a month in this apartment and it was one of the best holidays we've ever had. It was wonderful to be right in the heart of the Historic Center of Rome -- between the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain, around the corner from Piazza Colonna. The apartment was all it was advertised to be, and more, with an elevator up to the sixth floor. The apartment is tastefully designed for comfort and practicality. High above the bustle and noise of the street it was a quiet sanctuary. We enjoyed the view of Roman rooftops from the terrace and the birds wheeling overhead. We appreciated the gas stove-top and the half-fridge. We had no trouble with the stairs up to the bedrooms, in fact they gave the apartment a playhouse feel. The wi-fi worked, allowing us to blog in the comfort of our "home". The proprietors are utterly charming and sophisticated. They are always ready to help or offer advice, but otherwise left us in privacy. Truly our stay at the apartmento Colonna was a dream come true. We certainly hope to stay there again.
I’m still trying to get out of my fantasy world which was Rome! We had an amazing time, thanks to our location. We always knew we were close to home when we arrived at the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain or the Spanish Steps. It was unbelievable being in the center of the Roman world. We were able to walk anywhere we wanted to go. Ok, so we did end up on the bus to see the catacombs on the appian Way. The apartment was the perfect home base for us. It allowed us to venture out early in the morning when the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain were least crowded, and then the location was still convenient to allow us our siesta and the out again to experience the evening at the piazza Navona or in Trastevere, the sky line from Piazzo del Quiranale or the Pincio and enjoy the view from Castel Sant’ Angelo. There were only two of us, but the apartment could have easily accommodated 2 or 3 more. The kitchen, though small was adequate for our needs. There was even a washer so we could start our next leg of our journey with clean clothes. The 2 rooms upstairs allowed us our own private space. And, it being late June, the air-conditioning came in handy so we could have a comfortable night’s sleep. Being americans, it took us a day or so to master the locks on the door, but that was all a part of the adventure of Rome. Thank you for hospitality. Julia was very kind and patient with us. Thank you again!
This was the first time I rented a vacation apartment over the internet, and will definitely use Key to Italy again. Everything worked as promised, and the apartment was lovely. For us (couple with a baby) it was much better than staying in a hotel (which would have cost the same).
