Our Scarpetta II apartment (100 sqm) is located on the first floor of a nice building (with no elevator) in the heart of Trastevere, one of the most ancient and folkloristic districts of Rome that houses pretty and small craft shops and boutiques.
The apartment has the following characterstics. A double bedroom with a queen size bed, a double bedroom with two single beds, a large living room two comfortable couches (one of them is also a double sofa bed), a charming fireplace and an ancient dining table, two bathrooms (one with bath-tub, the other one with shower-box), a fully equipped kitchen.
The apartment is provided with ADSL high speed Internet connection, independent heating, washing machine, dish-washer, TV, iron and iron board. The Apartment has air conditioning in all rooms.
The apartment is in the heart of Trastevere, one of the most ancient and characteristic areas of Rome. Trastevere is a very prestigious district with narrow and cute cobbled alleys.
Trastevere has never lost his character; poets who celebrated Rome have always found inspiration here. Bordered by Viale di Trastevere, the Gianicolo hill and the Tiber river, Trastevere is packed of streets lined with pretty shops and local restaurants.
On summer evenings the quiet squares are attended by young people and family groups, a cute aspect of Roman way of life.
The church of Santa Cecilia, Piazza Trilussa and the Basilica of St. Mary in Trastevere are the most enchanting places to see in the area.
The apartment was exactly as described. My family of 3 teens, one 9year old my husband and myself were most comfortable. I wanted a place to spend Christmas as a family and at a place where we could relax in between touring. The apartment was perfectly placed on a quiet street. The kitchen was perfect and we were able to cook an Italian dinner for Christmas eve and day. It even had a dishwasher. The dining table was large enough for us to sit at comfortably. Hassan was on call for questions and came right away to help us with the oven. The two bathrooms were a necessity for our family and both had showers. There was a washing machine which I indulged in once and it worked well. The bedrooms were spacious and the pullout very comfortable. We were in walking distance to the market, stores and sights. We walked everywhere, even to the Borghese Gallery and Vatican. We went to midnight mass at Santa Maria's which was a beautiful old church. We went to restaurants in Trastevere. There were many bakeries and pizza/ sandwich shops close by. In making our plans, Giovanni was most helpful and patient with my many e-mails. He reassured me with "We will take care of you" and he definitely did.Although we kept the apartment clean it was a relief for Hassan to say we will take care of the housekeeping. My only regret was not staying longer and taking a day trip outside of Rome---that's for next time.
thanks Daphne, what a fantastic Italian Xmas! thanks for you appreciation. ciao e a presto! Giovanni
We were traveling with extended family in Europe for 3 weeks and Rome was our final stop. As we were going to be there for six days, I wanted something different from a hotel. Since half of our family was in a hotel in Trastevere, it made it easy to go hunting for an apartment in that part of the city. Given we had never used the services of Key to Italy, never seen the apt, and not had anyone refer them or the apt to us, we truly lucked out. From the reservation process, to the arrival process, to staying at the apt, to our departure, and ultimately, to their handling of a forgotten bag on our behalf, this was truly a flawless experience. I cannot sufficiently sing the praises of Key to Italy, nor can I say how delightful and comfortable the apt was for five of us traveling together -- you will simply have to experience it yourself! Hassan we helpful and thorough upon checking in, and spent an hour with us helping us get to know all the knobs, handles, cabinets, and mechanisms in the apt. He also pointed us in the direction of trains, busses, restaurants, shopping, etc., even walking us to the end of the street to show us around. He was an absolute delight. It was great to have a kitchen and be able to shop vs. taking all meals and snacks out and about. And we loved having two bedrooms and two bathrooms and never felt like we were bumping into each other. The best part of the experience has to be Trastevere itself. Spend your days out and about touring Rome, but at night, when you get hungry and want to enjoy a meal like the locals do, come home to Trastevere. Countless options abound, all steps from the apt, the food is uniformly excellent, and the prices are amazingly reasonable. Tourists are in the minority here, and it seems there was some sort of little street festival going on almost every night! You will not be disappointed if you take this great apartment from this excellent host! I will surely return again and again!
Walking Distance to everything. However, we are active adults with a 10, 12 and 14 year old. Spotless apartment with very comfortable beds. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. We ate huge breakfasts every morning to fuel our 15 hour days!! Closing up the apartment every night with air conditioning was a must to keep the city sounds outside. Restaurants within 100 yards was a nice bonus, especially on a raining night. If you need the pull out coach do ask for a demonstration before Marco leaves. It is very different from the traditional american couch. It provided a humorous 30 minute engineering puzzle!!
Nice 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment in quiet neighborhood near Tibre River. Perfect for a family of 4-6, or 2 couples. Air conditioning in all rooms and wi-fi worked great. Very close to nice restaurants. Short walk to major bus lines and taxi stand. A bit farther to nearest metro stop. Key to Italy staff was great. Giovanni answered my many questions via e-mail and Marco and Hasain were very helpful at check-in. They met us as promised, showed us how everything worked, and left phone numbers in case we needed anything.
We enjoyed our stay in Scarpetta II. The apartment was lovely and our host was very helpful. We did however have some trouble finding the apartment.
Arrived in Rome after 5pm. Met at airport as per arrangements with Key to Italy staff. We were met at the apartment, shown around , given instructions about the apartment , given maps about local attractions and given phone numbers to contact in case of any problems. Apartment was very clean and more than met our expectations. Location was excellent. We walked everywhere. Excellent restaurants nearby.
The apartment Scarpetta 11 was a perfect base for our holiday in Rome. We were two couples in our 60s/70s. The apartment had everything we needed, (even wi-fi for the thoose addicted to their emails!) and was spotlessly clean. It was very close to the centre of Rome but the area was more like a Tuscan village than a a capitol city. We found amazing places to eat nearby. Our favourite was Carlone's in Via Della Luce. The only downside of an apartment is that there is no where to leave luggage if needed. We had booked an evening flight on the last day exepecting to have another half a day in Rome. When we got to Termini to leave our bags however, the queue was impossible. Coin operated luggage lockers no longer exist, presumably because of terrorist threats. I would have no hesitation in returning to this apartment however, I would just book an earlier flight home next time.
Thanks for the very nice words Judy! I'm happy to see you enjoyed the place. We try to accommodate late checkouts for our clients whenever is possible and if noone else is arriving the day of your departure. Unfortunately this was not the case. I hope to see you soon again! Giovanni
Started our 21 day trip to Italy with another couple by staying in Scarpetta II. It was a perfect way to launch our trip because we were able to relax together in the apartment after a day of sightseeing. Coffee and croissants in the moring only steps away, grocery nearby and many nice restaurants within a couple of blocks. Walked to Roman ruins, Trevi Fountain and Jewish Ghetto. Cheap taxi to Vatican and used buses to visit Borghetti. Great company to deal with. Take advantage of private car for a few euros more when arriving exhausted at FCO. You can quickly immerse yourself in Italian culture rather than the americanized version available at hotels.
Six of us stayed in this apartment - four adults and two teenage girls - and it was perfect for us...clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable. What I think we all loved most was the area! We could literally step right outside the apartment and go to so many amazing restaurants, places to just sit and have drinks, the "snack shop" where we could go to get pastries and coffee in the morning, etc. I am so glad that we stayed in Trastevere. It is an easy and short walk into the center of Rome, but just far enough to be out of the chaos. It was honestly charming and we would definitely stay there again and recommend to friends.
The apartment was spotless, well furnished, comfortable, airy, light and well above our expectations. Three sides with windows that open fully. Quiet at night. Great location near everything Trastevere and beyond, plus easy transit access. We would definitely come back. And KeytoItaly was awesome to deal with.
Thanks Bill, this is my favourite subject name for a review! ;) very kind of you. best Giovanni
We were welcomed at the apartment by a helpful man, who not only showed us round the apartment and its facilities, but also gave us a short tour of the local area, so we could orientate ourselves and find local amenities such as the tourist info office and supermarket. The flat was very comfortable, matched its description perfectly. The best thing was the location, just next to the pedestrian bridge over the Tiber. Many of the tourist sites were in easy walking distance. Also, the restaurants of Trastevere, which are far better value and really lively, perfect for a family with children. Although right in the centre, the apartment was in a quiet backstreet, so very little traffic or noise at night.
We stayed at this little but comfortable apartment for 7 days and were very pleased with it's proximity to a taxi stand, cafe's, restaurants and major sights in Rome. It is located on a small pedestrian street in the charming area of Trastevere, far enough away from the more busier areas to afford a quiet good night's sleep. The apartment accommodated the five of us very well. My husband and I had one bedroom, our son slept on the fold out couch in the living room, and our two daughters shared the second bedroom which had two twin beds. The two bathrooms were very helpful as well. We did not end up using the small kitchen very much at all as our proximity to reasonably priced restaurants and cafe's made it easier to pick up a cappuccino and brioche on the way to visiting sites. If one wanted to cook however the kitchen was outfitted with everything you would need. We simply preferred to go eat at different Trastevere restaurants every night and enjoy the excellent Roman cuisine. From the apartment we walked everywhere and only when we had to go really far (like to the Borghese Galleries in the Northern section of Rome) did we decide to take a taxi.
Thanks Michelle! I agree Trastevere is THE place to go in Rome for the best cousine! :) all the best! Bruno
Friends from Europe, with experience in Rome, refer to the other neighborhoods (Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Campo de Fiori, etc) as lovely, but anarchy! They are correct: Scarpetta II is close to all the action, but enough removed to be almost peaceful. A dozen cafes and banking and post offices within 500 meters assure a workable location for your visit to Rome. Do not rent a car. The Tiber and access to the ancient City is a walk of only a few minutes. And don't buy any pasta or spices before your visit. There are lots of supplies in the Scarpetta II kitchen!
Thanks Ed for the kind review! it has been a pleasure to assist you! best. Giovanni
Location was perfect - check in on time and very friendly and efficient. Apartment was more than we expected and so close to many wonderful restaurants and coffee shops.
We had a great time in the apartment. The reception by the agent was really welcoming and Hasan provided valuable advice on where to go and how to get there. The facilities in the apartment met all our needs for a 5 day stay. Very comfortable accomodation for 2 couples and a superb location - restaurants, points of interest, transport into the centre of Rome, shopping options and a sereal sense of being in the heart of Rome.
My family and I recently vacationed in Rome for a week. Trip of a life time! We decided to try an apartment instead of a hotel. What a great decision. We found The Key To Italy online and booked a two bedroom apartment in the Trastervere area. The apartment was just as described (wonderful) the location was even better. We could get around town easily yet come home to peace and quite and a wonderful local flavor. The management was very accommodating yet left us alone when appropriate. We loved our vacation thanks to The Key to Italy. I would highly recommend The Key To Italy to everyone for both service and quality of their apartments.
This is a nice apartment in in the Trastevere area of Rome. We loved having two bathrooms and a washing machine. Everything was in working order and the apartment is nicely decorated and comfortable. The twin beds were a little firm. The agent, Hassan, was wonderful - we arrived later than expected and were very tired. He met us on a street close to the apartment and went through everything with us making sure we understood everything before leaving. Marco was also very helpful when we needed assistance with the internet connection. The apartment is difficult to find so I would suggest taking a cab instead of the bus (as we did). It would be much faster and worth the extra money. We would definitely use KeyToItaly again. We used a different company in Venice and things did not go as smoothly and we were disappointed with the apartment and the rental agency.
The apartment was located close to a number a restaurants and pizzeria. Walking distance to metro and train stations. The apartment itself was clean and great for family or a group of friends. Very quite neighborhood. Would stay there again!
