The Palatine was the slope where the emperors of Ancient Rome used to live. Here you will find the reamins of their houses. Palatine Hill encompasses the funeral spot of Julius Caesar, temples, forums and everything you've ever seen in a gladiator movie. On your left after your entry from the south are the remains of Caligula's Palace, (Emperor from A.D. 37 to 41) and immediately on your right is the Basilica of Emperor Constantine. The Circus Maximus (home of the chariot race) lies just to the west. Do not miss the banqueting rooms and the wall decorations. The view of the forum and Diocletian baths is stunning. The original aqueduct that supplied homes on the hill is still intact.
