"Aqua alta" floods Venice regularly in the winter, when the water level in the Adriatic rises with tidal surges. But this time it was so high that a guy went waterboarding right in Piazza San Marco!

Look at this video it's unbelievable and beautiful!

Stadio Olimpico, Rome

Champions League LogoRome: The 2009 UEFA Champions League Final will be played at the 82,000 capacity Stadio Olimpico in Rome on May 27th, 2009. The home of A.S. Roma and S.S. Lazio. The 54th final of the UEFA Champions League football tournament and the 17th final under the current format  for the third time following 1984 (the only occasion where a team has played at its home stadium in the final of this competition) and 1996. The current holders of the trophy are Manchester United F.C of the English Premier League. The UEFA Champions League, which evolved from the European Olympic Stadium, RomeChampion Clubs' Cup, is a seasonal club football competition organised by UEFA since 1992 (or overall in its older format since 1955) for the most successful football clubs in Europe. The prize,  the European Champion Clubs' Cup (more commonly known as the European Cup), is one of the most prestigious club trophies in the sport. In the 1992–93 season, the tournament was renamed UEFA Champions League and in 1997/98, eligibility was expanded to include not just domestic champions but also the best performing runners up according to UEFA's co-efficient ranking list. Between 1960 and 2004 the winner of the tournament qualified for the Intercontinental Cup against the winner of the Copa Libertadores of South America. Since then, after FIFA took over, the winner automatically qualifies for the FIFA Club World Cup with other winners of continental club championships.  Cheer for your Team and hopefully makes it there!!!

Changes to the competition rules from 2009-10 onwards
Champions League Trophy, 2009The purpose of the changes was to enable champions coming from national leagues ranked 13 to 53 much easier access to the main tournament through a separate qualifying route, rather than going head-to-head with non-champions from associations ranked 1 to 12. Five teams will enter into the group stage from a new route. In 2009-10 onwards 22 teams will directly qualify for the group stage. The additional 6 teams being champions of their national league will rank 10 to 12, and 3rd placed teams ranked 1 to 3. It was also decided that the final would be played on the Saturday evening in calendar week 20 (19:45 BST) from 2009–10 onwards, instead of the Wednesday evening.   View our Rome Apartments
