New Years Eve in Rome, Fireworks at the ColosseumCome and celebrate the New Year or "La Festa di San Silvestro" in Rome this winter. In the past, New Year in Rome was a time to celebrate and eat only traditional food like fish and pasta. Through the years, New Year in Rome have changed  and has gotten even better. Nowadays, the  New Year in Rome has exploded in time to dance, eat, drink and party hard with friends, family and loved ones around. The sky is also lit with multi colours of great fireworks illustrating an art show expressing how Rome passes the New Year with a Bang. Whether you are at your rental vacation accommodation or on the street, the beauty being in Rome on New Year is the life and excitement transmitted with a combination of locals and tourists. They all have one thing in common, have fun!!  Rome's traditional New Year's Eve celebrations are most popular in Piazza del Popolo. Huge crowds gather to celebrate with rock and classical music for all tastes counting the seconds to midnight ending with splendid show of fireworks. The celebrations last well into the hours of the night. On New Year's day, children are entertained in the square by performers and acrobats. Next to the church of Santa Maria del Popolo, you can still see the exhibit of the old traditional celebration ways (lasts until January 8) from 100 regions of Italy and other countries of the world.

In recent years and many to come, there is a new celebration in the square in front of the Quirinale off Via Nazionale, with outdoor concerts playing Classical music followed by fireworks at midnight. Even the Italian President and other important members of the Italian government attend to this event. Also, another must see event during this time of the year and much waited all year long, is the New Year Parade procession. Thousands of people wait anxiously to receive the Pope's blessings in Rome. The New Year parade in Rome, passes through the historic Castel Sant' Angelo, proceeding down Via della Conciliazione ending in St. Peter's Square. This event, the New Year Parade in Rome is worth witnessing on January 1st, 2007. Many celebrities and politicians participate in watching this magnificent site. The parade has grown so much along the years that it has become world renowned event and earned a partnership with Gateway Music Festivals.

New Year's Eve in Saint Mark's Square,VeniceThe New Year's in Venice is truly a spectacular site. People start their New Year in Venice by gathering at the historic piazza of St. Mark's Square and wait eagerly for the clock to strike 12 at midnight. Everyone waits for the bell of St. Mark's campanile to ring. The New Year has started!  All of this is followed by a huge display of fireworks, music and people dancing in the middle of the St. Mark's Square. People greet and laugh with each other letting the good times take over the night. Many restaurants in Venice have no boundaries hosting huge feasts on New Year's Eve, starting around 9:00 and lasting until midnight. Although it can be a bit expensive, they tend to be very good and worth it with many courses and lots of wine. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. Many restaurants will be closed on New Year's day, however you can expect pizza places, and Chinese restaurants to be open. This year, New Year's in Venice is celebrated with a vengeance! Music and celebrations are back in St. Mark's Square on New Year's Eve. Entertained by two Brazilian bands - The Mitoka Samba and Berimbau - Fireworks and a 70 meter-long table with plenty of Prosecco bottles that will be uncorked after the midnight countdown are part of the final toast featuring Venice's Jazz Orchestra. A New Year's Eve dance procession starts at 9 PM inNew Year's Eve Fireworks in Venice Campo S. Margherita, Square, the heart of Venetian nightlife. They will dance their way up to St. Mark's, crossing the town by passing over the Accademia Bridge and Via XXII Marzo. They are scheduled to arrive around 11 PM in St. Mark's Square where a large stage will be set. Just like it is during Carnival. The Venice Jazz Orchestra will play standard jazz and a long Latin piece where people are welcome and encouraged to dance. The grand finale with fireworks will light the St. Mark's water front, the square, and the splendid Basilica. New Year in Venice, the much-awaited night of the year in St. Mark's Square is a huge celebration with music and a giant fireworks display. A dramatic and quiet exciting site to see on New Year's Day in Venice is, around forty people take the first New Year's dip on the Lido island in the festival called "Auguri di Capodanno sulla spiaggia del Lido di Venezia". This famous event takes place at the Blue Moon Beach and begins at 11.30 am with music welcoming everyone to celebrate.
